Joint Economic Development Districts (JEDD)
In Ohio, townships do not have the authority to tax income of businesses or residents. To help townships offset the revenue sharing losses from the state, the state legislature created Joint Economic Development Districts (JEDD). A JEDD allows a township to partner with an adjacent city or village with an income tax, to collect an income tax on workers within a defined area. Miami Township participates in three JEDDs, specifically:
Miami Township/City of Dayton JEDD located primarily at the Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport and along Washington Church Road
Miami Crossing JEDD located primarily between I-75, I-675, and OH 725
Austin Center JEDD, located within/near Austin Landing
