Safety Town

Safety Town earns the Miami Township Police Department the September 2025 Agency of the Month bestowed by the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and the Law Enforcement Foundation!

We are proud to earn this distinction for our inaugural Safety Town event. By teaching children the tools they need to be safe, we help our community combat crime and stay safe in dangerous situations.

Safety Town is a weeklong program for children entering kindergarten and first grade. Offered by the Miami Township Police Department and the Miami Township Police Association, it provides an educational experience free of charge. Participants will learn about pedestrian safety, fire safety, gun safety, bus safety, stranger danger and more.

This hands-on experience offers children safety lessons as they travel to and from school whether by bus, riding with parents or walking. Kids will navigate safety lessons at our child-sized safety town village, including a peddle car adventure! Each child will also get a Safety Town t-shirt and have the opportunity to take a bus ride to see the police station and a Miami Valley Fire District fire house.
